First developed by Suzuki, and built in collaboration with Mazda, the Autozam AZ-1 is one of the most iconic Kei cars of all-time. Sold under Mazda’s Autozam brand, the AZ-1 offered supercar looks at sub-compact pricing.
Competing with the Honda Beat and Suzuki Cappuccino, the Autozam AZ-1 was by far the quickest and most exotic. Powered by a turbocharged 660cc 3-cylinder engine, and mated to a transverse 5-speed manual gearbox, the mid-engine AZ-1 was surprisingly quick. With its lightweight chassis and manual steering rack, the Autozam AZ-1 felt more go-kart than street car.
This particular example is the highly-coveted Mazdaspeed edition, one of less than a a few hundred. This special edition added a unique front bumper, rear spoiler, body-colored bumpers and side skirts, alloy wheels, and a specially-tuned exhaust system. With just under 60,000kms (37k miles) this is also one of the lowest-mileage examples on the market. Finished in Siberia Blue with a matching blue/black cloth interior, this will surely stand out at the next Cars & Coffee event. Looking for even more attention?
